Fiona Thompson

writer, Founder of Wordspring Ltd

Fiona is a London-based freelance copywriter who provides copywriting and marketing support for Renegade Generation.

She has just celebrated 20 years as a freelancer, so knows something about how to sustain a portfolio career and adapt to changes in the market.

Fiona started with a degree in French, worked in fashion and textile publishing as a writer and editor, had a stint in business psychology, then became a freelance journalist and wrote regular features for The Times, The Guardian and Esquire magazine.

She enjoys delving into organisations, talking to people and unearthing stories that demonstrate what makes the business tick. She’s worked for all kinds of clients, from the BBC, Nokia and Coca-Cola to Silicon Roundabout start up companies and a Somerset cider producer. Recently she’s written a brochure for the Paris Opera House, web content for Corney and Barrow, and tone of voice guidelines for a new cosmetics brand, Delilah.

Fiona writes for a range of charities, including The Brooke, Save the Children, Battersea Dogs and Cats Home, Help Musicians UK, Freedom from Torture and The National Trust.

She speaks fluent French and Italian and plays the harp in her spare time with various London orchestras.
